GLH28 ball lenses are made from UV fused silica and are used to improve signal coupling between fibers, emitters and detectors. Other source-listed uses include endoscopy, barcode scanning, sensors and preforms for aspheric lenses.
The short back focal length reduces the lens-to-fiber distance required for fiber-optic coupling. Focal length depends on the refractive index of the material.
All models in this source series are uncoated. Select the diameter, focal length and back focal length from the individual model specifications.

The source gives a UV fused silica transmission range of 185 nm to 2.1 μm, low thermal expansion, high homogeneity, chemical resistance and low fluorescence. Its lower refractive index than K9 gives a longer focal length for the same ball diameter.
